A well resourced and supportive community Primary School in Walsall are looking to appoint a Graduate Teaching Assistant with Speech and Language experience. This is a permanent post due to commence in September 2013 and would suit a candidate wanting to become a Speech and Language Therapist. It would also be ideal if you are looking for good experience of working in a Primary School before beginning your Primary PGCE or further education.
This is a ‘Good’ Primary School with an ‘Outstanding’ Provision for SEN pupils and the school thrives on its reputation for offering excellent inclusion for the local community. The school itself is situated in Walsall and can be easily reached by rail and bus links.
As a Teaching Assistant you will support 2 pupils 1:1, in a split timetable that will see you working in and out of the classroom. You will also be expected to provide vital support in speech and language sessions, which help the pupils to increase their confidence, self-esteem and independence. This role is suited to a candidate that can be enthusiastic, conscientious and always focused on the welfare of the children, who are the school's primary concern.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with an aspiration to support pupils and an ability to do this within an SEN environment. You must be willing to develop your skills to the schools high standards of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). The school promote health and safety in all aspects of school life and it is the support staff that are at the heart of this ethos.
